American Prince

“Do you understand me? Do you know what’s on my mind?
I think you’d be surprised at what you’d find
Do you even know me? Do you know what’s on my heart?
Are you just too busy to know where to start?

I may be young I may be green, but do you realize all the things I’ve seen?
I may be young; wet behind the ear, but I follow your footsteps and all I see is fear.

I am an American prince and I can’t see the Sun
I'm just trying to make some sense of this life on the run.
I’m an American prince headed toward the light.
I don’t want my time to be spent doing nothing less than right

Can you even see me? Do you know I’m alive?
I’m the generation behind trying hard to survive.
Just talk to me, show me you care
Share with me let me know you’ll be there...

I may be young I may be green, but do you realize all the things I’ve seen?
I may be young; wet behind the ear, but I follow your footsteps and all I see is fear.

I’m an American Prince
And I’ve nowhere to go
I’ve got the world in my hands
Why do I feel so low?

I’m an American Prince looking in other ways
Who will take a stand and show me brighter days?

I want to challenge the kings and the queens of this land.
Your sons and daughters are trying hard to understand.
Where do we go? Our future you don’t look too bright.
Won’t you please stand up right now and be our guiding light.

I am an American prince
And I can’t see the Sun
Just trying to make some sense of this life on the run
I’m an American prince headed toward the light…don’t want my time to be spent doing nothing less than right”
