Fate
Dawn breaks early,
The moon sets late.
Desperate to see another,
But simply not their fate.
Rays of passion shine,
Spreading warmth below.
He’s without his love,
He’s alone; barely aglow.
Shadows grow long,
The golden hour’s begun.
Leaves crackle lightly,
His pain will be undone.
She wakes from her slumber,
But he’s barely in sight,
They share a longing look,
He sets; taking her light.
She reflects his devotion,
They’ll try again tomorrow.
Hope exists, though slight;
His pain, her sorrow.
If you were the sun,
That’d make me the moon.
Destined to be apart,
Except those brief afternoons.
