7 Years

It's been 7 years
7 years since I last remember what it felt like to be consumed with love

Words that meant nothing to you
Meant the whole world to me
You saw me
In a time where i so desperately needed to be seen

I was in one of the lowest points of my life
You saved me

.......

We drifted
You grew up
Became someone else
yet my feelings never faded

Strangers to friends
Friends to strangers
This unrequited feeling never leaving me

It's now been years since we last spoke
Years since my eyes last looked into yours
I hear your name and wonder "what if"

What if i had told him how i felt
What if i had made a better attempt to remain friends
What if i had done something, anything to keep you in my life

I will forever live with this pain
Knowing that at one point it wasn't unrequited
That you had felt the same
That will be my biggest regret

I wish you happiness in life
I really do
Id be lying if I didn't say, that Im longing for it to be with me

It's been 7 years since Ive last seen you
and somehow you have set up a permanent campsite in my brain
