Image Driven

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

What then will happen,
When those known to be competent.
And ignorance free.
Coming each and everyday to assist,
The teaching of others...
To use their minds to become wise.
Knowledgeable.
And noticeably,
Intelligent to enable them to succeed.
In a World becoming more deceiving.

So many today,
Prefer the freedom and ease of being...
Image conscious.
With looks to impress.
Feeling threatened their images to value,
Openly displayed.
Will leave no one left to idolize,
Them to worship in decadent ways.
Or found no longer to recognize,
Those symbols are relatable.
And close to declare them ancestors.
Of religious and spiritual deities.

Although mythed.
And historically distant from reality.
Yet...
Taught to teach and accept to believe.

What then will happen to truth and reality?
And proof and evidence,
Of their existence.
Once to roam the World over.

But today?
Left struggling to survive,
In a climate changing.
With a polluting of lies,
Diseasing many and a way of fading life.
Inflicted with intention by the ones,
Image driven.
Boosted to seduce...
Thoughts of power.
And maintained to sustain,
Visions of immortality!
