Awakening

Kennet Benoît-Hutchins 1952 (Snowdon, Montreal, QC)

The Muse Awakes

AND, I stand in silence,
warmed by the creeping fog.
You fail to see me, in plain sight.

I'll not laugh;

perhaps you may hear a slight intake of breath,
as I take a measured step into your oblivion
AND colour my heart's desire.

About this poem

The narrator is the muse, and the 'you', is to whom the muse speaks. Small things add up to much more than one thinks. So is it the muse who thinks, and you are simply a utensil to be used.

    A muse, I love that, this world is too serious !
    Just like artists who use a brush to paint a canvas
    While poets use a brush to paint words !
    A muse painter no less !
