metamorphosis

happiness brings a forced smile and the barest flutter of my heart

sadness leaves me shivering in the wake of the faintest breeze

pleasure thrums through my nerves for only a second before vanishing

tears form at the corners of my eyes yet refuse to fall

i am pygmalion’s statue

carved in the image of a person, yet empty within

i am pygmalion’s statue

my emotions are human, yet they fade in an instant

i am pygmalion’s statue

i breathe, i move, i live, yet i do not know

what i am
