Congenital Heart Disease
Amanda Villegas 1989 (Phoenix)
Congenital Heart Disease I hate you. You were there for my Daughter's first heart beat and will be there for her last. You are a sneaky disease who hides well, you even had the doctors baffled. How did you hide from such advanced technology? You are a Mother's worse nightmare. A Father's worse battle. You give a good fight, trying to steal the light. You underestimate the will of an innocent baby, you underestimate the power of God. That's a duo you should not face, these warriors are meant for something great. Occasionally a warrior is too great for this place we call Earth and must go on to live with Jesus. I hate you congenital heart disease. You cause so much pain, so much grief, so much Earth shattering hurt, and you are relentless. You teach us the impossible is possible. You gave us this new world full of Moms fighting for their Babes. Friendships stretching across oceans. Knowledge of medical terminology that use to be a foreign language now seems to be a first language. We can't remember what we had for dinner but we can tell you every single detail about our Babes health. We have our Cardiologist on speed dial, our pediatricians number memorized. Statistics, ha! I laugh when hearing statistics. See these 2 Beauties. They have the rarest form of CHD out of the 7 Critical Congenital Heart Disease. They are my diamonds in the rough. We will stand up for our Babes, we will slay all their monsters just to make their day a little brighter. We stand by our Babes why they are fighting for life, we are their biggest fans, we are their greatest advocate. No one can stand between a Warrior and their Mom. Cardiologist, Neurologist, Gastroenterologist, Pulmonologist, Urologist, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Respitory therapist, Speech therapist, Food Therapist, blood work, IVs, heart catheterization, echos, EKGs, stethoscopes, feeding tubes, oxygen, nasal cannula, bagged, echmo, life support, diretics, medical induced coma, pik lines, arterial lines, blood gas, ox monitor, bypass, gradients, confluence, and so, so much more. I hate you congenital heart disease. I hate all the knowledge you bring me and all the pain you cause my Daughter's. I wish I could take you so no other Babe or Mom would endure your stentch of rubbing alcohol and blood. You are as two faced as they come. You are cruel yet teach us a valuable lesson. You are ugly yet show us beauty. You are harsh yet true. You show no favorites yet bring us closer to others. You are evil but draw us to God. You are Congenital Heart Disease.
