Different Direction
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Perhaps it is in the undertaking,
To make steps in a different direction.
That is consider to be a sign of weakness.
Or a maverick nonconformist.
Going against what is perceived,
A collective normalcy.
Yet...
Not too often does anyone,
Choose a doing to go it alone.
To pioneer the unknown.
Weak, meek or docile.
With a facing of obstacles and challenges,
Others have shown to fear.
And many like this,
Ultimately claim of giving their support.
If it to mention as time passes,
Returns to them benefits...
Of some kind.
'I always knew one day,
They would become successful.
From all the encouragement,
They had to receive.'
'0h yeah?
From who? You?'
'Well...
Indirectly?
I guess that would be a yes!'
'How grateful and thankful they must be,
To know 'indirectly'...
They could depend upon your support.
And...uh...
That 'success' that had been accomplished,
Was not achieved overnight.'
'I know that.
I've been supporting what they do,
For almost a year now.'
'Try decades.'
'Decades?'
'Yeah.
What you know to recently discover,
Had been their success to achieve...
Several decades ago.'
'Oh!
I did not hear that.'
'And I am shocked.
Who knew,
You would leave me speechless!'
'I can't believe you said that.
Because when I found out,
The same thing happened to me.
