A poets escape
Hours tick
Light turns to dark
Precious moments to some
Not shared by the few
Oblivious to its hold
Unaware of its addiction
Trivial to them
Critical to us
Slumber overcomes them
Our absence their blanket
As their mind rests
Ours comes to life
The days focus now cast aside
Our freedom now granted by solitude
Our art free to be shared
Creation and inspiration unobstructed
A window filled with urgency and desire
Knowing its limit
Not knowing its end
Behind the walls paper like shield
The blanket of absence is shed
The unknowing now aware
Bringing forth with her life's crippling weight
Unapologetically smothering creativities light
Welcoming you to join her in realities bosom
