Higher with You
Then?
The crisp night air hitting our wet skin,
Smooth and leathery to the touch.
Our lips met in a slow, warm embrace.
My eyes were fluttering and I felt your heartbeat rise.
Maybe the brewing feelings you'd been pushing down came to the surface!
Mine were already bubbling over the top;
Our kiss opened the vents and the smoke and tension was released.
The smell of that earthy herb heightened my senses and every touch was surreal.
You were clearer than ever,
Your shimmering eyes piercing into my bored ones.
Deep down, a glimmer of hope shone for mine to be reflecting.
Rather than one sided, maybe our feelings were mirrored?
I was obsessed.
Now?
You can’t ever meet my gaze.
Those radiant eyes gaze away from my ugly.
The night was not special for you as it was to me.
You thought it was fun,
I thought it was something new.
That harsh slam of a window keeps the haze in;
I wander aimlessly to leave your grip, but no matter what,
You don’t want me like I want you.
I walk into the bathroom for my fix and notice you standing alone.
The pen touches your lips and I can’t help but wish it were me instead of that weed.
It reminds me...
You still press your lips on other girls
And feel their heat plush against your cold heart.
I can’t help but pity them as I know from my hindsight;
You’ll never like them like they do to you.
About this poem
This one is about an incident I had with a boy that I had true feelings for; spoiler, he felt nothing. Enjoy!
