A Day in the Life of a Beach
The gulls seem to laugh
flying observantly overhead.
Children covered with sand swim and play.
Waves crash around them,
as they race for shore.
The sun caresses all with its warmth.
Soon it gives way to the night.
And the moon, as if on cue, begins its flight.
The pigeons coo strutting under foot while
In the distance the beach grows quiet.
No sounds of laughter or lifeguard whistles.
Crashing waves now play a serenade,
as young love walks hand in hand.
The gulls and pigeons no longer laugh or coo.
They know it is time for me to say to you,
I love you and I always will.
