When Love Endures
I came to you on enfeebled feet
Heavy of heart downcast in eyes.
And, in a flash, you threw your arms
Around me in such a loving embrace
The joyous euphoria of those who dare.
In a flash the earth and cares are gone
We soar high, the clouds waft us on.
With you by my side, a new lease of life!
In our tender hands long, long ago
We had held a squirming dove this way.
Those were the years, so sure of life
Unready for shocks, unmindful of pain
We braved the world, its stress and strife
No friend in sight yet we felt no strain
The joy of presence, the solace we sought
Our eyes were sad, our spirits never sagged.
I was so fragile, I would bear no loss.
I am back in stride euphoric in thought.
I hold high my head, my heart feels young
We have hopes to build, hearts to conquer,
The mountain wears a crown of clouds
In its bosom the birds sing and flowers smile.
In nature peace and wisdom found
Around us conflict and hate abound
It is time for nations to hold hands
And welcome to a world of sanity
Awake to a day of glory and joy,
Forget problems, they’ll be gone
This day, this earth is blessed to be
A haven of happiness, hope reborn
In Love and smiles and gleaming eyes,
Hearts open in peace and harmony.
Trust is restored We march in hope
With our heads held high and free,
From high achievement to victory.
Enjoy the moment, celebrate the years
We’ll be great, our lives an ecstasy.
