MINE
I demand you speak truth that is not my own,
That you live in a house that is not my home,
You shall bask a height I have not grown,
See a sight I have not shown,
Accept an offering I do not loan.
I demand you speak in my tone,
That you abandon your party for my alone,
That you sing a lullaby that is not my song…
I demand that you live a life that is not your own,
I demand that we intertwine,
And that you live not your own life – but mine.
Your prosperity must be a charity,
Only unto me.
And you mustn’t do to others what you have done to me.
As your grace, shall only know my face.
And you shall only belong to that of my place… Mine
You shall not smile a smile I have not smiled –
And you may be only tame unless I myself am wild.
You will only count the clock of my time,
For you are mine
You must live by an honor I cannot uphold,
You must tell the story I have not told,
Buy of the goods, I have not sold.
You must be the warmth when I am cold,
And you must be young and have vigor when I grow old.
Be courageous for I am not bold,
Your knees mustn’t buckle, when mine fold.
You must lie, and say you are fine,
Ignore all faults, while you are mine.
I am sorry for how I am,
I would change if can.
For I look upon myself and see not a man,
I would change if can.
I would be stronger if could,
I would do things I know I should
I would change if I can.
Alas I find myself confined…
For this unchanging evil, is mine.
