Blood and Fire

Peaceful protest feels like begging

Those with power don't see our humanity

To them we are things to be used and abused

To them we are the worms on the street

Nonviolence feels humiliating

And the experts somehow call it victory

When after years of asking nicely for food

We get mouldy rotten scraps to eat

But we deserve to eat that's a human right

An intrinsic integral inalienable right

We should not have to beg and grovel and plead

Just to get them to pretend they let us have what we need

All human rights belong to all humans

And no-one should have the ability to withhold them

Governments and billionaires

The rich comfortable and usually white

Have power to deny what people deserve

To treat us like we aren't even lives

Then they act like everything's fair

Try to paint themselves in justifying light

As if we want to live just to live to serve

And we can't even challenge their lies

I want to wrest their power out of their hands

Violent explosive and ragingly, however I can

I want blood and fire to rain from the sky

So no-one ever again has the power to deny

Rights that are intrinsic, integral and free

Respect equality and joy for all humanity
