Analysis of You Better Look Again

Everybody used to tell me, I had a monkey on my back,
The only similarity, was they were both black,
God spoke to my heart, and said "you better look again",
For that is not a monkey, with it's claws in your skin,
Monkey's are of this world, and you are not dreamin',
What you have upon your back, is an evil demon,
"He cannot come inside, where I already live,"
But he will Possess, all you freely give,
I have removed him once, But you brought him back,
Now seven of his friends, Have joined in the attack,
The power you have inside, Is sufficient for your cause,
All you need do is ask, And "I, will remove his claws",
Stop trusting in yourself, And put your trust in me,
Submit to God, resist, and he will surely flee,
You cannot be of two minds, and Hope to come out fine,
You can't have it both ways, and Walk both sides of the line,
Take a stand, draw near to God, and do what is right,
Heaven forbid, we're found lukewarm, and cast from his sight.

Troy Kaneer

I have been writing for about 20 years. Found I could rhyme a little and still say something. Was led to use this for the Glory of God and His Son my Saviour. I do write some personal poems but it seems that God gets in those too. It is appropriate though because He is my life. more…
