Analysis of Rolling Skin Up To The Elbows

The scent of life
Shatters this solitude
Wrapping its arms
Around my throat.

Whispers, dark and cold,
Brush my thoughts
As the morning
Creeps steadily,
Mercilessly,
Towards my eyes
Staring solemnly
Out into memories
Rushing through
The echoes of yesterday.

Hope shakes its hair
As confusion blinks time
Across this century.

The scattering volume
Of morning beats my ears -
Drumming with blood
From a heart belonging
To your wondrous spirit.

Wind wraps dark clouds
Around nature’s potted life,
Instant black - speckled
With white dots forming
Imagination’s empire.

I hear your mind move,
Feel your love turn me in its palm
And smiles burn the world,
Eyes open - I am with you.

Music rolls songs on its tongue,
Words seek the corners of the room
As the beats in between the spaces
Dance madly through the rush of blood
Flying down veins like wings of Heaven.

Soft eyes boldly turn to fire -
Burning the dreams into history
With hope stepping around fears,
The song stretches arms and smiles notes
Into heavy air - beautiful life.

Salvation drips like treacle
As love melts into the stream of thoughts
That reach for understanding’s laugh.

The song of the heart, soul, mind
Runs free and shines wonderful light,
Brightening all the dark days
That tried to steal the dance.

What price we pay just for living,
For the breath that wanders
When the darkness around us closes in.
For being us.

I slip away - thoughts linger
And my eyes tear into slithers of personality.
I will leave a flower.

Sometimes I just break down.
My eyes will not stop flowing.
I ask for help.
Drink too much.
I am me,
Clinging to reality.
I wonder where I am sometimes
And here I am -
Sat in happy misery.
Scared - of living, of dying,
Of waking up, of going to sleep,
Of the shadow, of the light,
Of it all and it's draining my might.

Scared of being alone,
Of being in love, of the daytime,
Of the night, of everything
That breaches this sight.

Scared of alive -
I throw sometimes in me,
Sometimes I am scared
Of just being me.

All these me's in the spotlight
I feel like I'm not right,
But still I search for the free.

Reaching for hands
I clasp empty air,
It's all joking and frowns
Pulling my hair.

This humour is wavering
The colours are fading,
I feel the weight of my stare.

My fear is
Being here, alive,
Looking into eyes
And they see my fear,
Being weak in a strong world,
You, me, all the moments that make us.
Dying, living, seeing, not seeing,
The open spaces, the cold,
The warmth, people.
All of the above and many more.
And still, no matter what,
I am here, living in the insecure windows.

Colours winding light
Across Heaven's delight.

An easy morning orange -
Red peachy glowing,
The window smiles softly
As it soaks the subtle shades.

I could stretch a yawn
Into the light,
Maybe squint a grin,
Or somethin'.

High noon blaring yellow-bright,
My eyes run as if in fright,
Can't look in the sun for I'd lose my sight,
For a time or two or perhaps all night.

Could stretch a yawn,
Could sleep away the day,
Could stay awake
In time's laughing wake.

Setting in, settling in
To the evening's promise,
Colours find the smiles again
And wash them gently
With their pastel tones,
Their darker songs,
Moving, we are moving
Into something new,
Something old,
The dance is constant,
Wrapping rhythm in all eyes.

I would -
Strike a mountain
Into dust for you
Just to show
That I care.

I place open heart
Upon battered sleeve,
Roll skin up to elbows,
Smile for your eyes,
I care - for you.

I would -
Rip up every drawing
Then burn them to ash
Just to show
That I want.

I shatter solitude ways
Into tiny splinters,
Grind them to dust,
Blow it into freedom,
I want you.

I would -
Unravel my scars,
Lay the lines in forever
Just to show
That I desire.

I wear your smiles
Like favourite shirts,
Press them - fold them
Into my beating heart,
I desire you.

I would -
Walk outside alone,
Stand in crowds
Just to show
That I love.

I dance passions across
The lines of poetry,
Spin them wildly
Into dizzy heights,
I love you.
