Analysis of New York Tears (finished version!!)
Hand stuffed in her left back pocket,
She steps off the block,
Cigarette in hand.
Her dark hair stuffed in the floppy hat
She uses to cover her face.
Trying to get by
Simple mindlessly
She struggles everyday.
Brown eyes bloodshot from straining.
She takes a drag on her cigarette as turns the corner
Where her apartment is located.
She turns the key in the front door
And walks in to find a note slipped under the door.
'YOU OWE RENT' big red letters say.
Minimum wage barely enough.
She collapses on her couch as she takes another long drag,
And breathes out the smoke that rises slowly.
'How did I get in this freak'in situation?
Where did my life go?'
She thinks with dread.
She puts out the cigarette,
As she throws the rest of the pack in the fire place.
"I don't even know why I bother to burn them.
I'll only buy more," she thinks aloud.
She grabs a beer from the fridge,
Pops it open,
And takes a swag.
She crashes out
On her unmade bed.
She looks around her gloomy apartment,
As she wonders if this is really her life,
Or if she is just looking into
Someone else's life.
Her hair tangled sticks to her face
Due to sweat and tears.
She walks over to her writing desk.
A struggling writer, what else?
Her tears stain the paper
That has been carelessly stuffed into the typewriter.
She gets an idea.
She writes her story.
Late 20s,
Lost and alone.
Her story is one
Of lost hopes and dreams.
Been through ups and downs.
And as she types the letters
On the blank pages,
She promises herself-
'I will be fearless.
Brave and strong.
No one- NO ONE- will stop me
From reaching my high point.
I WILL live happily.
No one can stop me.'
