Analysis of Desert Heart

By Rae Rae Arango

Without you here my heart feels so alone,
lost and weary. Pain shoots through as
though cactus needles were being darted
through,piercing into my soul.
My heart is thirsty and craves to be
quenched by your pouring love which,
at this time, seems only to be a mirage
in the distance.
Like the hot desert sands,forever
wishing to be soothed by the rain,
my heart burns with a nonperishable
love for you---refusing to die.
Until I reach the oasis of your
heart and your arms,in which to rest,
this desert heart of mine shall only
thrive on the hope of your love,
your rescue,---that shall be my
happiness---my oasis.
