Analysis of We can be friends
Chip Fletcher 1985 (Oregon)
I take what you offer
But I can’t give what you seek
And you throw things in my face
Of what you offered
I can’t give you what you want
Thanks for what you offered
But I will have to pass
So don’t be mad
I won’t let you be had
By accepting what you have
Because life is a two way street
You give and you take
And you take and you give
But sometimes when we take
They ask for what we can’t give
And it blows up in our face
I can’t make you happy
Because I haven’t gotten there myself
Thanks for giving me what you had
But I can’t give you what you seek
So don’t make me feel bad
I take what you offer
But I can’t give what you seek
Please don’t throw it in my face
Dry that tear running down your cheek
Tomorrow is a new week
We can be friends…
