Analysis of Never Had I

April Farley 1984 (KS)

never had i ever imagined that i would lose you,
never had i thought of what i would do,
never had i wished that were gone,
never had i ever remembered doing anything wrong,

never had i ever endured this much pain,
never had i ever known after so long things wouldn't be the same,
never had i ever realized i could never change your mind,
never had i noticed our feelings were so blind,
never had i pretended that you and i were "us"
never had i dreamed that i could love someone always,
just because
