Analysis of Forgiveness

How difficult forgiveness
seemed to come, at last.
The burden and the lonely cage
of what I  self-imposed and dragged
was ugly, and in rage.
And, years of reflection, hence,
did nothing to uplift
that burden, carried long, in pain,
till God's grace did pour in.
And, so I tell, as I received,
and felt the Spirit's breath,
forgiveness snapped me from my hell,
as light expelled the fear and dread,
and-- there-- the burden fell.
