Analysis of Morning Dew

April Thomas 1983 (United States)

The wind in the trees
The buzzing of bees.
The lapping of the water,
Sitting by the lake.
All of these sounds
That creation can make.
The birds in the yard,
Looking for the worm.
It’s gaze and determination,
Are nothing less but firm.
The sounds of baseballs, hitting the bat
The quiet meowing of a cat.
The chirping squirrels
Jumping from tree to tree.
The quiet morning sip
Of my favorite tea.
These are the things
That which I love.
Save one that I have not spoken of.
This special one I’ve saved for last,
Always present, never past.
This one is special
Like morning dew.
This one, my love,
Is always you.
