Analysis of BROKEN SHATTERED

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

Broken, shattered.
Smoking ruins lie
Nothing mattered
My world passed by

Against You alone
I sinned oh Lord
Before Your Throne
 Make me New, Lord

From a great height
I fell so fast
Thought I was a great Light
But I didn't last

Shrapnel of pride
Broken on the ground
Is it true I tried?
Shards falling around

I said I'd stand
Though all others fall
Broken I land
From my great wall

Faiths fire
Burns inside still
You're my desire
And I pray always will.

Here I am, broken
But I belong to You
Still faith is spoken
Grace sees me through
AMEN

About this poem

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge Psalm 51 1-4
