Analysis of An Ocean Of Tears
From the desert
Of my empty soul
I have wept
An ocean
Of silent tears
As my heart
Torn apart
Aches
With pain
Indescribable, unknown
My heart
Fragile porcelain
Shattered pieces
Scattered
Am I forever lost?
I search
That dry,
Bleak shore
Washed by lonely
Unspoken thought
Who can find?
The many pieces
Of this broken heart
Who can bind?
Them back together
Who can restore?
That once fine
Porcelain jar
Who can pour?
The unshed tears
Who can sooth?
This indescribable
Ache, pain
Who can prove?
That I am found again.

About this poem
August 2023 I was walking on a small island on the west coast of Sweden. I met a stranger. She told me that her name was Rebecca. She told me that she had just buried her two-year-old son. I held her long in my arms. Fighting the silent tears that welled against me eyelids. Words were neither suitable or sufficient. I went on my way and composed these words. This poem is not just for Rebecca, but for all of us who mourn those whom we have loved and lost.
