Analysis of The Little Boy from Miles Away
Meng Wing Siong 1960 (Philippines)
One windy morning on a quiet beach,
I saw a little boy miles away.
His tiny footsteps along the shore...
I`ve known him from time before;
He walked farther away and out of reach,
but his footsteps coming at me getting closer.
I could see from whence he vanished into the other side,
yet his tracks in the sand getting bigger;
I tried to run away from perhaps just a dream.
Footprints were gone and saw my feet.
The little boy fading into oblivion,
but his essence dwells in my spirit;
Strangers apart but like a brother never left.
Time was the only space between our worlds.
Catching each other`s end of the rainbow...
His soul I would carry for tears to never flow.

About this poem
The poem is a tribute to our younger brother who passed away recently. He may be gone but remains forever in our hearts. Or could also be about my dead self, the little boy in me who ceased to exist more than 60 years ago...but never actually left and remains in my subconscious mind...that boy from miles away.:)
