Analysis of I Have Stolen You From the World
I have stolen you from the world.
Lots of people like to say “they’re the one for me” and that’s true for me too, you are the one for me, but what’s beautiful about you is you could be the one for anyone.
But now I have stolen you from them.
Not in the way that someone steals something that doesn’t belong to them.
You are mine.
You always have been mine.
The world has kept you.
It did not keep you from me in a cruel way but rather for safe keeping for when I was old enough.
The world sat me down at the kitchen table one afternoon, looked me in the eyes and said, “She’s been kept away, will you be worthy?”
“Probably not” I replied.
You are mine and I am yours.
We do not own each other in a cruel or restrictive way, but rather have each become more free by tethering to the other.
It is only once we have fastened our harness to the mountain that we are given the courage to climb.
Some don’t need a harness and that’s perfectly ok too.
I am not one of those people.
I need you.
And I have you.
Although time and time again I’ve proven that I was right, I’m not worthy of you, you love me anyway.
And for that reason, I am worthy.
