Analysis of FORGIVE YOURSELF

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Forgive me, holy powers, for I know and do not know. If and when I sinned, my prayers were sent but never answered. I guess they got lost in the winter wind. I forgive and forget, but I still greatly regret needing to speak to one of you. I am strong but need to rest, for I'm getting weak.

I am tired of letting their hammer for no pennies on the dollar when they make all the riches and give me no gold. I am forgiving myself to save my old soul. I write these words knowing I may be wrong, but I might be right again.

I am forgiving myself, so I do not need your god, I do not need your satan, for everything is no longer a temptation, for I know I can not always get what I want, but I will always say namaste.

I am forgiving myself. No longer am I on the edge wanting to jump. No longer do I cry, but my eyes are not dry i have my glass of water to drink and food for thought, no longer to a myself a stranger to myself waiting for my shadow to get caught.
