Analysis of Forever Love

Diana Shirley 1949 (Louisville, Kentucky)

It's January, and very cold, dead in the middle of winter,
With 18 inches of snow so deep, it made me start to quiver.
As he walked into the store, he calmly said hello,
I knew, as soon as our eyes met, I'd never let him go.
His gentle touch, so warm and tender, as he reached and took my hand.
Was like, the sand upon the beach,
And the seashells, floating to land.
So close, he held me in his arms, As if the time stood still,
I knew right then, The love I felt, No other man could fill.
Our hearts beating, together as one, We could feel with every beat,
As we'd say goodbye, for just a while,
Wondering, when again we meet.
Forever, our love would always be,
I knew, right  then it would last,
As, I now sit here, in my home alone, and dream about the past.
