Analysis of Twisted
Clary Atkins. A phenomenon. Her sweet fragrance lingered as she walked the halls. I noticed her little smile when she tries to contain her laughter. Her eyes were candid when she conversed and she played with her eraser every time she disassociated in class. She had these little quirks about her that piqued my interest, but I could never have forgotten one thing about her. She would grab the back of her seat and turn her body around to crack her back and neck. She would look me in the eyes, smile, and apologize for the disturbance. It was unnecessary to apologize but it pierced my heart every time. Despite all of the love I had for her peculiarity, I continue to be tormented by her untimely death. On April 27 of 12th grade, she went to turn towards me like any other day. I leaned closer to whisper a joke when a resonant snap filled the classroom. Before staring directly at me, her body fell on my desk. Her eyes filled with red and her lips faded into a dull color. She decapitated herself. The desk became stained with her blood. Her body twisted to perfectly rest on the desk behind her. My desk. I didn’t realize what had happened before everyone in the classroom started screaming. I was captivated by the motionless eyes persistent gaze into my mind. Nobody ever figured out how Clary managed to snap off her neck but it still haunts me ten years later. Her grave was bare. It’s been rumored she’s cursed so Im tasked to dig her up. After 4 excruciating hours, her skeleton only proved the town’s theories. Her body became even more twisted and spread out over the course of ten years.
