Analysis of Buffalo

Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

Okay, here it goes.
I dance, I assume
The trance.
A big buffalo rages, it
Was peppered with arrows,
I see in the pages. It starts to
Rain and the buffalo dies.
There is no tears in my eyes,
For Elk shouts, shoots,
and snipes.
In my ears I hear the singing.
In my eyes I see the prize.
God makes a bountiful harvest
For the Indians.
Every bone and organ
Not wasted.
All the meat and the tears tasted.
I see the sunder,
and sense the thunder.
My lips curl,
and no blunder at my feet,
But what a treat!
