Analysis of When I Write

I wish I could write something good;
Each day and every night.
And then create what will not wait
To be my poem's light.

I've written more than years before
And I am learning how
Variety has helped me be
The poet I am now.

I also choose to rarely use
The sadness and the rage
That quite a while was in my style
And sometimes filled a page.

I now know I must always try
To write of happy things.
I must avoid what has annoyed
And reminiscing brings.
