Analysis of Tell Me When The Good Begins

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Tell Me When The Good Begins

So my heart lays bare all my wounds
After I shared everything I had
And you still left me anyways
It wasn’t supposed to be this way
At least the vows said so.

And what about the Chinese tattoo
Symbolic of the word always
Meant to mark us both as
Together in our new forever?
Oh, I guess it’s all my fault.

And the price I pay for falling in love
Becomes losing time and money
Pets and personal possessions
Energy and emotions now echoes
You said really mattered to you.

Here I am waiting after you’re gone
For an answer to so many questions
Love is short, forgetting is long
Instead of smiles you made me cry
So tell me when the good begins.
