Analysis of Hello Man, Be Yourself

Man, be your true self
project your true character;
it's no good pretending;
in pretence
you create a false impression
of yourself
thereby wallowing in self-deception
and revelling
in self-deception.

In pretence
you portray
a ghost
a shadow
an effigy
a counterfeit
of yourself

In being yourself
you are taken for what you are: your true self

But we are in a world
where pretenders are often applauded
and sincere men
often persecuted.

About this poem

It is a common factor that role models do exist in society, it is also a common factor that the copycat syndrome is also a reality. Yet, anybody can create a niche for himself by being confident of himself. You can be a trailblazer, or a pacesetter.
