Analysis of Hook

Darla Yocom 1978 (Missouri)

I used to believe my insane life
Imitated what you can typically find
Hidden within a well written book
Full of drama and characters combined

Spilling onto the delicate pages
Were eloquent words describing my dreams
Expressing the thoughts I dare not think
Detailing my every move or means

Vulnerable to those who choose
To read the pages within my life
As I learn to manage and cope
With trials of love and strife

In the end I learned the truth
My life is not a book
But something more pleasing
Than a harmonious lyrical hook
