Analysis of Lamenting
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
These people are foolish,
For they know not the Lord;
So stupid and mulish,
His Word has been ignored.
With no understanding,
But wise doing evil;
Darkness is commanding,
The work of the devil.
God looked upon the earth,
Was without form and void;
To Heaven giving birth,
That light would be employed.
He beheld the mountains,
That had grown from the hills;
Established the fountains,
To lakes where water fills.
Behold, there was no man,
Birds of the air had fled;
People foiled His plan,
All the creatures were dead.
Fruitful lands were barren,
Cities lay in ruin;
Because the Lord they shun,
Caused by immoral sin.
They followed the wrong path,
And totally ignored;
The fierce anger and wrath,
In the sight of the Lord.
