Analysis of FORGOT WHO I WAS

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

After forgetting who I was told to be, I sat back to look inside the ripples of the river to remember who I was meant to see a new version of a once-fading me. I took a long trip deep down inside my heart and mind, and I rose from the underground in disbelief at what I found.

From the ashes I had raised, to everyone's surprise, I came back as the fire and the flames that so carefully tried to burn my wings. For a moment, I forgot who I was. Now I know I am everything they fear, be it life, death, love, hate, truth, or lies. All they remember of me is that I am a sinner and a saint who knows how through the centuries knew how to survive.
