Analysis of The Pernicious Potation: A Sonnet on Sobriety
I doth ponder o'er the souls for whom my verse
Is meant, yet still my message doth remain:
That nought of ethanol doth our health immerse
In healthful bliss, and free from woe and pain.
The quantity most salubrious and pure,
Is that which doth from ethanol abstain.
For though it may one's senses oft allure,
'Tis but a poison that doth bring us bane.
So let us not be tempted by the brew
That doth our judgment cloud and morals skew.
But let us choose the path that's pure and true,
And in our health and well-being ever renew.
For though the road be long and oft unclear,
'Tis but the journey to a life most dear.
