Analysis of The Lump
Have you noticed the blessings upon the earth?
Let me take you on a search--
Lush green grasses in the fields,
Lofty mountains and mighty rivers he yields.
Seeds germinate and grow fine stalks,
Buds pollinate now flowers across.
Raised clouds become water filled,
Rains about the earth, moisture spilled.
The creatures grow and provide sustenance,
Just a portion of the bounties that come to us.
Meat and wheat among the wonders,
Provided for us, for earthly hunters.
What about the caterpillar?
Now a butterfly, all familiar.
While the worm calmly sleeps,
Rebirth he reaps.
We all start as a life germ--
And then a clot,
Grows to a fetus,
And life is begot.
Life after life?
Another birth?
The earth a womb
From which we can bloom?
Kings thought themselves to be of a god,
I have the power to give life or take it away.
But think, our god, the God,
He has the power to give life after it’s been taken away.
These things are easy for our Lord.
All he has to do is think,
To be,
And it is.
Abraham pondered, he asked of the Lord,
“Lord, I believe you,
But would you show me,
This miracle of rebirth.”
I love you Abraham,
Such love you have found!
Gather together four birds,
Your favorites, from your herds.
Abraham chose wisely.
From the pick, he made a mix.
Different kinds of birds,
Each with meaningful words.
One pigeon,
The symbol of love.
The cock,
The symbol of passion, men must lock.
The crow,
Greed and arrogance, men must let go.
The peacock,
Worldly decoration, to un-bestow.
Thank you, Abraham,
Now take the birds and chop them up,
Mix them together,
In one large lump.
What! You said my favorite birds.
I don’t want to harm them.
Abram, remember Isaac.
Now cut them, the smallest size of.
Mix and mix,
Blend your friends,
Infuse and mingle,
No way to reassemble.
Now, split your lump and head to the mountains,
At the top of each one, leave a little account of.
When you return to your house,
Call for them out loud.
Tiki, Spartacus, Ashishishe, Emerald,
In they came, one by one,
Each one, reassembled.
The pigeon, cock, the crow and peacock, resembled.
These things are easy, easy for our Lord.
All he has to do is think,
To be,
And it is.
Let’s make it a little harder,
From nothing let’s get started,
Ezra was gone a hundred years
Nothing but dust and he appeared.
From morning to evening,
Ezra thought, I tarried half a day, no more.
Look Ezra, at that lump, it’s your ass,
Nothing but bones and grass.
Watch, as I assemble him,
The bones duly joined together.
The lump started to look like him,
Now flesh like clothes, put on, behold, it is him.
Now Ezra, get on your ass, return home.
Take a look, see what has become.
He found his grandchildren,
Older than him.
These things are easy, easy for our Lord,
All he has to do is think,
To be,
And it is.
What are you going to do?
When there’s just a lump left of you?
What are you going to do?
When the Lord reassembles you?
You should believe in him,
Or the next life to be grim.
What have you lost,
If in Him, you have not sought.
