Analysis of The Gruelling Wait

Morning came and found me here
Waiting for the healing of your touch
The sky was low and the moon so near
A soulful of hope and a dounting search.
This is where I last saw your smile
Under the lifeless gibbous light.

Night fell and found me lying still
Under the shadow of a lonesome cloud
If only your touch I could feel
I'd search for your hand in the buzzing crowd.
I'd been lying here for a little while
Long enough to see the day birth a starry night

Seasons came and found me waiting
Under the little tent we'd made
And every wind blew past carrying
A little scent of your hair and pomade
Our hearts had grown a little too fragile
And every beat brought with it a little fright.

I waited for you, my gentle one
I waited for you to come rescue me
You said you'd only be gone for a short while
But I grew old cuddling the lonely
Maybe you're still teaching the sun to smile
Or you're only coming home from too long a fight.
