Analysis of September and October

Eileen Clark 1993 (Htfd. Ct.)

The September days can get very hot
Turn on the air conditioner, then it's not
By late afternoon you are cold again
Turn off the air and let evening set it

The very next day you wake up to a chill
Is that really frost on your windowsill
Get out the sweaters and turn up the heat
The days to come this activity we'll repeat

We are just now entering the first of November
Much talk of a heat wave, so try to remember
Weather change happens so don't lose your cool
Predicting the weather makes a smart man a fool

About this poem

I was having to turn on the heat in the morning and the AC in the afternoon in this month of September in my state of Kentucky.

Eileen Clark

When I was little I was always rhyming things in my head as a child but never wrote things down. I have a slight learning disability, did poorly in school, and quit the day I turned sixteen. That should explain my poor spelling folks! For many years I kept busy as most do with taking care of home and family and friends and pets and working, and so on. I did keep up with my painting and they made nice gifts to give out to friends for every occasion. Now I'm old and crippled with rheumatoid arthritis and somewhat housebound, hence the Blogs and websites to keep myself busy and I began to write poems. My poems are not sophisticated or brilliant, just simple writings filled with memories of my childhood, my imagination, my experiences in life, and my plight with arthritis. I love my poems and don't mind saying so. I hope to post some of my short stories when I get brave enough. Eileen Clark more…
