Analysis of Battle

Tuntufye 2002 (Lilongwe)

I sharpen my sword as I get ready for battle.
My goal is set, the enemy I shall dismantle.
Fight until there is no more struggle.
The enemy shall weep and bleed before me.
I'll fight as this will lead me to my destiny.
I'll defeat my enemy.
I'll prepare for this with daily remedies.
Contemplating strategies.
I'll Watch as my anger lights a fire that burns calories.
I'm ready for the battle.
As the round begins, the bell rings.
I am thrusted into a dark room.
My eyesight is compromised, as all I see is doom and gloom.
My fear attacks like a Puma ready to pounce.  the light beams, and the enemy appears.
My legs quake with fear.
As my eyes produce tears, ounce by ounce.
I watch as the idea of the beast fabricated in my head fades.
The unnamed monster I was ready to fight.
This isn't her.
Discombobulated with shock.
I fail to walk.
I stand still, and she also appears to do the same.
Like a kid pressing the snooze button, my anger awakens.
To her is this a game?
I notice my enemy seems all too familiar.
Her eyes.
Her anger.
Her shame.
Is all too familiar.
The realisation collapses my world as I realize I'm looking in a mirror.
Realizing I'm fighting myself made the self sabotaging clearer.
Running from and fighting my truth, whilst avoiding expression.
Every path added to the labyrinth created, led to separation.
I Hid from the darkness from within.
The battle Forced me to look, and accepted my sins.
And the demons within.
Understanding that light cannot exist without darkness.
Nor can an opaque object without a shadow, created by brightness.
I faced my shadow and realised, her smile was kinda beautiful.
She led me to my truth, that's what I'm grateful for.
