Analysis of Pointless Caring

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Pointless is the caring,
To attempt the spreading,
Of more ignorance increased to cease.
Too many have been seen surfing,
On the highest wave they can find.
As close to the shore.
Anticipating to release,
Their unconsciousness upon it.
With a doing to free themselves,
From using their minds and sensibilities.

Pointless is the caring,
Of those on the shore.
Warning the ones,
Riding upon the highest wave...
To enjoy what they've been made to believe,
Will leave them living...
A better way of life to live.
Yet not to realize that high wave they ride...
Has below it a mountain of debris.
So effective that promises,
To be more destructive...
Than a tsunami.
That will take many lifetimes,
In restoring back what they took for granted.
As a temporary thrill seen to see on TV!

'UH...
Just out of my own curiosity.
Screaming as if in disbelief...
To see their own quality of life,
Destroyed.
As if they did not know,
What they were doing to themselves.
To allow it so.'

'Well...
We attempt to warn them.
But to us they would not listen.'

'Why to you they did not listen?'

'They thought their riding high on a wave.
Would make us envious and jealous.
To see them on top of things.
Not to know our warnings,
Was our hope to help them save themselves.
Since we've been long accustomed,
To clean up their mess.
While they take credit for it.
But this...?
This is far and well above our pay grade!
And left us feeling it pointless to care,
When history has shown us...
What we do to get it done,
Not for ourselves but for everyone.
Never gets mention to express gratitude!'

'Try to convince them.
Since they are the ones screaming,
About their lives being ruined and destroyed!'
