Analysis of Shattered

Hollie mcintosh 1988 (Peoria illinois)

I remember the sound of breaking hearts, Like whispers on a breeze..
I remember shattered silence, along with pain that would bring you to your knees..
Those pictures painted with a silver tongue will make you forget where youre from..

I see a face in the broken glass, like slivered shards to a battered past..
I hear the call, I pay no heed..
For as you can see, you already made me bleed..
I'll bind my wounds and bite my tongue, I can already see who you've become..

Hold on to the broken clock, the hands are still set to where time almost stopped..
I held it all in, as the bomb went off..
Now I'm lost at sea, holding on to all the torn pieces of what's left of me..

How could this come to pass, I have no answers to speak for the questions which you ask..
I burned that bridge you see, I lit a match and watched it burn..
I danced in the ashes and smiled as the sound of the clock returned..

I see the light as it dawns in the east, and for once I feel the presence of peace..
As it draws ever more near, I will continue to feed it all of this rage..
I need it cleared..

As the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, I'll put all of this bullshit and nonsense to rest..
The face in the mirror is now my own and over me you have no hold..
So light that match and watch it burn, sit back and enjoy as the world continues to turn..
The clockhands no longer sit to where I was laid to rest, now it points out only the times that are the very best...

From the ashes I will rise, I'll raise the ceiling as I remember how to fly..
I'll break the mold, I'll sit back and watch as memories of flight unfold..
For beyond these borders remain wonders unseen, I stretch my wings..

And I'm free..
