Analysis of To Love Me Is to Accept Me as I Am
I know I'm not a handsome man,
Or even a rich man monetarily.
But my heart would bleed and die for you,
To keep you protected, loved, and free.
I have my flaws like smoking tobacco,
Or using too many curse words at times to endure.
But my heart is for God, you, and our sons,
My heart is human, sensitive, kind, and pure.
I know that I could do well to lose a pound or few,
Or more to be healthy and live long by your side.
I would be saddened to leave you too early in life,
Leaving you a widow instead of a loving wife.
Too much weight, chewing tobacco, drama,
No common sense, your words ringing in my ear.
But I've never said such things to you, I've just loved you as you were and are.
And I still choose to love you and hope, that you will choose to love me again and again, My Dear.
Love is a choice, not a feeling.
We have to choose it every day no matter the cost.
Accept me as I am, and love me as I am, as I do you,
Before a great blessing in us is what is lost.

About this poem
A poem to serve as a reminder that truly loving someone requires loving them, flaws and all, and accepting them as they are, not as you would like them to be.
