Analysis of Judged Leaders
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The Lord of Hosts will take away,
Supply and support for your bread;
Water dries up because you stray,
No longer what you have been fed.
The mighty man and the soldier,
The judge as well as the prophet;
Keeps vigilant on the stranger,
About his illegal merit.
The prudent captain of fifty,
The counselor and magician,
The charms expert who is thrifty,
Call upon the great physician.
The Lord will make boys their princes,
As infants shall rule over them;
Whose persuasive power convinces,
To change ways or He will condemn.
People will oppress each other,
Everyone his fellow neighbor;
The youth disrespects the elder,
Ever slothful in his labor.
A man takes hold of his brother,
And of the house of his father;
Having a cloak from another,
And not belonging to either.
For You shall be our leader,
Let the ruins be in Your hand;
Because you are a succeeder,
Able for voicing Your command.
Upon that day He shall speak out,
Swearing not to be a healer;
In His house, bread nor cloak will doubt,
For He will be a revealer.
For Jerusalem has stumbled,
As well as Judah has fallen;
Because the people have grumbled,
As to with Moses and Aaron.
Their speech and deeds were against God,
Defied His glorious presence;
Iniquities had made them flawed,
Disregarding His omnipresence.
