Analysis of The Lightbringer

He sneaks past my parent's bedroom
In the direction of the kitchen
Into his tomb
He goes

As he spins the wheel
Of his lighter
He attempts to change the outcome
To change fate

But further into doom
His intentions bring him
And unknowingly
He seeks forgiveness

From a diety he wishes to know
Or those who birthed him
Anybody
But himself

"Do not seek external validation"
His friends say
And he tries, really
But he knows not what to change

The concept of free will is nice
Surreal even; nice things come with a price
And certain responsibility
For now his actions will define all

The mighty Lightbringer
Shrouded in darkness
So impenetrable
It is hard to be hopeful

The only light
Swirling in circles
Inches away from his face
As he inhales through a paper filter

And how quickly that beauty fades
As the fire burns out; ashes descend
And only now the sharp pain
Transforms into dull heartache

He is alone again he believes
But little does he know
The darkness is his truest friend
Since only with her
Can he shine pure

About this poem

A tale of how hopelessness and faith can entwine and shape one into the person they were meant to be.
