Analysis of Youth Lost

The golden sun is broken
On the horizon far away
No longer do the roosters crow
At the breaking of the day.

Young William's heart was hopeful,
As he marched off to war
The song of hastened summer days,
That ballad sings no more.

Fair Coraline she waited,
In the village by the sea
she sings her song, "dear William,
have you forgot about me?"

At dawn the cart arrives there,
She rushes for her love,
But now his hands are cold and
lifeless in the
clasp of her glove.
