Analysis of Moving Forward

I feel my heart break
as the truth settles in,
a snap and a tear,
and there goes another heart string.
Disappointed and crushed
overcome by the hurt
feelings long buried with the dead
resurface again from deep within the earth.
There's nowhere to run!
No place you can hide!
The only thing that heals all wounds,
or so they say, is the passage of time.
You can find a new vice,
get yourself a new muse,
but what you quickly will find
is that it's simply no use.
To move forward in life
it's sometimes necessary to look back,
for when it comes to points of reference,
what better teacher is there than a man's past?
