Analysis of Sleeping Waters

Tonight, as sleep now strikes I lay - my thoughts compel me to scream
The music fills my ears and dances are performed amid my closing eyes
As the world turns I see myself running on untouched earth
My wings carry me into which I desire
My thirst is quenched; my hunger filled
The blinding light speaks and I tremble with unimaginable fervor
Here I can breathe and here I can sing
My mind is at ease and my soul dives deep into the trusted waters
I fee the silk, warm to the touch, surround me - softly I sink
The sounds of thunder and hate no longer linger in my broken body
I feel my pains disappear and I know I am finally there

About this poem

I wrote this poem in 2002 when I was in high school. Originally, I submitted to Poetry.com and it was selected to be in a book called “The Best Poems and Poets of 2002”. I can’t find that book or any information on if it was ever published. I’m just now getting interested in writing again after all these years and it would be nice to know what the feedback of this poem is from those who write more religiously. Thanks!
