Analysis of Broken Record

Ahmed Alhoseiny 2001 (Egypt)

Do you remember? Do you remember not long ago when I sent you that letter?
Do you remember the confidence I had while saying I'll get better?
So naive, thinking I have hope of fleeing these invisible handcuffs
The narrative changes, but underneath I'm still hanging by the same tether

Will it ever end at this point? Is there a cure for being a disgrace?
If not, then what's the point of living if you won't live with grace?
My family will be fine without me, they don't need me to survive
A harsh life. A world full of darkness in which I have no place

Here I am hesitating as if the world's at a loss if I die
There simply just isn't anything left that's worth the try
Do it, Says my subconscious. DO IT, no one cares
Go out loud, for no one will hear your screams when you cry

"STOP! Please listen to me and drop the knife"
"No need to feel alone, I understand your inner strife"
"I'm sorry I missed the signs you must have been showing"
"Give me a chance to show you that life is with opportunity rife"
